Communication Students Join the 1st Packaging Design Competition for Kanlahi Festival

Communication Students joined the 1st Packaging Design Competition by the Tarlac PCEDO in line with the celebration of 8th Kanlahi Festival last March 7, 2024, at Ground Floor (Lobby) of the Provincial Capitol Building, San Vicente, Tarlac City.

The Product Packaging Design Competition was headed by Ms. Marvi Dela Cruz, Director of the Tarlac Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office with the different owner of products' Bayong Gracia, TEA-Napa, Chicharon Camiling and Potter's Hand.

Meanwhile, the competition participated by the students from TSU College of Architecture and Fine Arts, TSU College of Computer Studies, TSU College of Business and Accountancy and TSU Communicators' Guild, Tarlac National High School, Corazon C. Aquino National High School, Emilio Aguinaldo College Birbira High School, and Jose V. Yap National High School.

The product design competition divided into two rounds. Ms. Maria Divina Gracia, Mr. Randy E. Valencia and Mr. Emerson Hastin judged the first round judging of the entries based on the given criterium. After the deliberation of judges, 15 entries was chosen. Followed by the second round judging where 8 entries coming from TSU College of Architecture and Fine Arts, TSU College of Business and Accountancy, Corazon C. Aquino High School and TSU College of Computer Studies advanced to the selection of winners where they explained the story behind the design of each product.

Simultaneously, Mr. Jefferson Maliwat and Ms. Thimothy Addelaide Yvonne Perez, students under the Department of Communication represented and designed the product of TEA-napa by CGN Food Product Company and Chicharon Camiling were unable to advanced in the first round cut.

The packaging design competition aims to boost the marketability of different products in Tarlac Province. It is an avenue to all the Tarlaqueño students to utilize their creativity in producing visually appealing design and engage in developing the product identity to meet the needs in the market industry. This competition also acknowledged opportunities and artistry skills of the students.

Furthermore, several awards were given to the chosen designs by the product owner and Ms. Thimothy Addelaide Yvonne Perez, representative from TSU Communicators' Guild won the CGN Food Products' Choice Award.

Overall, Mr. Lambert Manalac from TSU College of Business and Accountancy won 3rd Place, Justine Philip Sicat of TSU College of Computer Science won 2nd Place and Mr. Kim Jasper De Guzman hailed as the 1st Place of 1st Packaging Design Competition from TSU College of Business and Accountancy.
