Back“These are not just brochures, calling cards, jingles, infomercials, booklets, and other materials — these are life savers.” — Mr. Johnson See
On May 22, 2024, BA Communication 2A students formally handed over their developed communication materials to the Filipino-Chinese Volunteers Fire Brigade at Smith Hall Building, CASS Theater Room. The activity marked the culmination of their efforts under COMM102b (Risk, Disaster and Humanitarian Communication).
As part of their final course requirements, the students produced various fire safety communication materials aimed at strengthening community resilience during fire-related emergencies. These included calling cards, stickers, paper fans, infographics, brochures, infomercials, booklets, and jingles. Each material was carefully designed to communicate essential fire prevention tips and to highlight the initiatives of the Tarlac Fil-Chi Volunteer Fire Brigade in protecting the community.
The turnover ceremony was attended by faculty-in-charge Mr. Derich D. Bognot, Ms. Carmela Paragas, staff from the CASS Extension Office, and representatives from the partner institution, including Vice President Mr. Johnson See and Mr. Bryan Lawrence Co.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was also formally signed, signifying the partnership and shared commitment to advancing fire safety awareness. During the ceremony, Vice President Mr. Johnson See emphasized the significance of the students’ outputs, describing them as more than printed and audio-visual materials, but as potential life-saving tools for the community.
Through this initiative, BA Communication 2A demonstrated their commitment to applying their academic training in risk and disaster communication to real-world community service, supporting the brigade’s mission that “All Lives Matter.”
