CASS–Comm Dept Leads Seminar on Parenting Styles for Today’s Generation at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic School

On February 19 and 29, 2024, parents of Our Lady of Ransom Catholic School participated in a seminar on “Parenting Styles for Today’s Generation,” led by Professor Nerissa S. Olarte of the Department of Communication, College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS–Comm Dept). 

The seminar aimed to equip parents with practical strategies for navigating the challenges of raising children in the digital age.

Throughout the sessions, attendees explored effective communication techniques, discipline strategies, and ways to foster emotional intelligence in children. Professor Olarte emphasized the importance of adapting traditional family values to the realities of modern life, encouraging parents to cultivate open dialogue, critical thinking, and resilience in their children.

The seminar reflects CASS–Comm Dept’s commitment to extension services that empower families and communities, providing knowledge and tools that help parents nurture responsible, confident, and emotionally intelligent children in today’s fast-evolving world.
