Tarlac State University (TSU), through its College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), College of Science, and College of Education (COED), successfully carried out the extension project “A Path to Knowledge: Educational Services for Our Lady of Peace College Seminary” from August 12, 2024 to December 6, 2024.

The initiative aimed to provide quality instruction through faculty-led lectures for seminarians.

The partner-beneficiary, Our Lady of Peace College Seminary (OLPCS), is a private sectarian institution specializing in Philosophy and dedicated to the spiritual and academic formation of future priests.

Among the faculty volunteers, Prof. Nerissa S. Olarte of the Communication Department contributed to the program by delivering lectures on “Speech and Reading Comprehension.” Her participation highlighted the role of Communication faculty in strengthening the seminarians’ competencies in effective speaking and comprehension—skills essential in ministry and pastoral work.

Prof. Olarte joined fellow TSU faculty members from CASS and COED who also shared their expertise: Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg taught “Readings in Philippine History”; Dr. Aloysius T. Madriaga handled “Logic (Symbolic)”; Dr. Grace Ann C. Hasegawa delivered “Understanding the Self”; Prof. Gherold C. Benitez taught “Socio-Political Philosophy”; Prof. Edgar A. Macaraeg conducted “Basic Computer”; Mr. Daniel T. Dizon handled “Theories of Personality”; Dr. Rita E. Pulmano lectured on “Science, Technology and Society”; and Dr. Criselda A. Madriaga taught “English Grammar.”

Through this collaborative extension effort, Prof. Olarte, alongside other faculty members from CASS and COED, contributed to the holistic academic formation of OLPCS students by providing specialized instruction grounded in their respective fields.
