In her opening remarks, PMAC Faculty Adviser Asst. Prof. Anna Cielo Perez, MA, shared the history of PMAC, which began as a podcasting-focused event in 2013. Prof. Perez also acknowledged the longstanding partnership with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).
The morning session featured two speakers. Ms. Flordeliz L. Abanto led an interactive discussion on “Digital Age’s Valuable Currency” where she emphasized the concept of attention as a modern-day commodity. She engaged the audience with a preferential survey activity and presented data highlighting the attention span and media behavior of the current generation.
Following her was Atty. Cheryl S. Adami-Molina, who delivered a lively and humorous talk on “Ethical Standards in Philippine Broadcasting: A Glimpse into KBP Broadcasting.” She discussed the importance of ethical responsibility in media reporting, particularly the implications of naming individuals in sensitive stories. Her talk included a fun activity where participants guessed TV and radio station taglines.
In the afternoon session, students from various universities participated in a collaborative activity to create slogans inspired by the morning discussions. The event concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing winning universities of PMAC’s categorical competitions.
