Communication Department cultivates journalism knowledge at Tarlac North A District School

The Department of Communication, in collaboration with the TSU Communicators' Guild, conducted an extension program during the Tarlac North A District Schools Press Conference, held at Alvindia-Aguso Central Elementary School on November 23, 2024.

Distinguished faculty members from the Communication Department hosted and judged the event, selecting winners who will represent their schools in the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference for various categories.

"'It's really hard to become a Campus Journalist.' 'Yan 'yong lagi kong sinasabi before no'ng nagco-compete pa ako as a student. But as a Communication student, I've learned na there is something beyond the Communication and sa Journalism spectrum. Kailangang totoo ang mga ibinabalita at ishine-share mo sa public, kasi importante at dapat nilang malaman ang mga bagay na dapat nilang malaman," shared Lee Olidar, one of the student hosts, during an interview.

Students from the Communication Department provided assistance in various categories such as in Radio Broadcasting, Feature Writing, Column Writing, Copyreading, Photojournalism and Editorial Cartooning.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the judges as a token of gratitude. Faculty members Ms. Angel Saludez and Prof. Maria Fermina Joyce Nucum also offered valuable tips and words of motivation to inspire the young journalists, encouraging them to apply their campus journalism skills to real-world scenarios.
