Led by the Tarlac State University (TSU) Communicators' Guild (CG), theĀ communication students' vlog entry, "Sitio Kolorum," wins Gold at the 28th EdukCircle International Convention 2025 in the 4th Vlogging competition category, held via ZOOM meeting on October 25.
Communication students from various universities and colleges across the Philippines competed in this national event, producing five-minute vlogs centered on social issues and advocacy-driven themes.
Directed and written by the College of Arts in Social Sciences (CASS) governor Clarise Ann Dacanay, together with the production team, host & writer Roberto Luiz Macapagal, director of photography Lois Quinocho and Webster Lacson, and chief film editor Matthew Evis Cunnan successfully captured Indigenous Peoples' struggle to have birth certificates.
Blending reportage with social commentary, "Sitio Kolorum" frames the plight of birth certificate-less Filipinos by drawing a sharp parallel to unregistered jeepney drivers. The piece champions the advocacy for legal inclusion, dignity, and recognition.
In a phone interview, the vlog's host and writer, Roberto Luiz Macapagal, explained his choice to highlight the story of Indigenous Peoples' struggle.
"Nagsimula talaga yan sa senior ko sa The Work... Since then, sobrang invested ko sa topic na yan and nung nabigyan ng pagkakataon, ng platform para maihayag yung tungkol dito, ayun, sinuggest ko during our meeting, and ending, ayun ang napiling gawin," Macapagal expressed.
Meanwhile, the online convention joined by comm students became a forum where academic professionals from international universities presented lectures tailored to media and communication topics.
