Out of 19 competing universities across the country, the Tarlac State University (TSU) Department of Communication secured a spot among the Top 5 finalists and emerged as 4th Runner-Up in the 3rd EdukCircle Vlogging Competition for Communication Students, held on October 26, 2024, via Zoom.

The winning entry, titled “Katotohanan o Kapangyarihan,” was produced by fourth-year BA Communication students Romer Madrid, Heleina Anjela Quesada, Dean Mhar Madriaga, Thimothy Addelaide Yvonne Perez, and John Christian Talavera, under the guidance of Prof. Maria Fermina Joyce Nucum and Mr. Jovito Taruc.

Their vlog explored the theme of media cronyism, demonstrating the students’ critical understanding of journalistic ethics and their commitment to promoting truth in media practice.

The competition was part of the 26th EdukCircle International Convention on Media Communication, which gathered communication students and educators nationwide to recognize excellence in media production and storytelling.

According to the TSU Department of Communication, the students’ achievement reflects their dedication to uphold the principles of responsible journalism and integrity in media practice—emphasizing the importance of standing for truth over power.
