BackThe COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines successfully held the first-ever Communications Olympiad 2025 Grand Finals on June 27, 2025, at The Lighthouse, 14th Floor, Lopez Building, Meralco Center, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City.
The Communications Olympiad is a nationwide training program for collegiate students pursuing Communications-related disciplines. The initiative aims to empower the next generation of communicators by equipping them with transformative knowledge and real-world applications. Designed as an Olympiad-style competition, the program provides a meaningful learning journey with practical exercises to advance participants' skills as future communication professionals.
With its inaugural theme, "Rewrite Climate Change," this year’s Olympiad focused on crafting innovative communication solutions to address and mitigate climate change through environmental sustainability.
Team TSU COMMunithink, led by Project Head Romer Madrid, opened their Olympiad experience with the grand parade. Joining him were Senior Communication students Heleina Anjela Quesada and Angilene Dableo, and Junior students Jael Tabanao and Clarise Ann Dacanay, supervised by Mr. Mark Alyson Madriaga on behalf of Asst. Prof. Maria Fermina Joyce Nucum.
Additionally, the event featured inspirational messages from key figures, including Belle Tiongco, President of IABC Philippines and Vice President & Co-Founder of Football for Humanity, and Ferdinand L. Bondoy, IABC Philippines Corporate Secretary, Lead for Youth & Education, and Interregional President of COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises.
Mr. Romer Madrid also led the team as a torch bearer as part of the Symbolic Gesture that marked the beginning of the Communications Olympiad Grand Championship 2025.
From the 24-Hour Communications Plan Hackathon, 15 teams from universities across the Philippines advanced to the Grand Finals. After intense competition and insightful virtual sessions, awards were presented by the jury across various categories. Mindoro State University emerged as the top winner with six gold medals. TSU COMMunithink proudly brought home a Bronze Medal in the Social Media Category, and received a Certificate of Recognition as one of the Top 15 Finalists.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Ritzi Ronquillo of IABC Philippines, who emphasized three words: Ethics, Meaning, and Purpose as guiding principles for all participating students. She also extended heartfelt gratitude to the participating universities, the COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises School of Communications, IABC Philippines, and the One Meralco Foundation.
