The BA Communication Program of Tarlac State University cultivates students who transform curiosity into critical inquiry and meaningful scholarship. Grounded in theory and guided by research discipline, students examine media, culture, communication practices, and contemporary social realities through systematic and ethical investigation.

Dalumat: The Student Journal of Communication, Media and Creative Research

At the heart of this research culture is Dalumat, the official student journal of the BA Communication students. Derived from the Filipino word dalumat, meaning “deep reflection,” “critical analysis,” or “careful examination,” the journal embodies the very essence of scholarly inquiry. It represents the students’ commitment to thoughtful investigation, analytical rigor, and intellectual engagement with the issues that shape communities and institutions.

Each year, students present their studies during research conferences, where exemplary works are selected for further development into student documentaries, special projects, and thesis papers. Outstanding research is published in Dalumat, serving as a testament to the program’s dedication to academic excellence and the cultivation of reflective, research-driven communicators.

Through these initiatives, the BA Communication program affirms its mission to produce graduates who do not merely consume information, but critically examine, interpret, and contribute to the evolving discourse of communication.
